Texas CDL road rental and vehicle familiarization
One 30-minute road vehicle familiarization session in Royse City, Texas, for customers with existing skills. $250 total; separate from ELDT public road.
Become familiar with the rented vehicle on the road
Customers apply previously acquired commercial driving skills during one short road familiarization session. The purpose is to become accustomed to the specific vehicle’s controls, handling and operating characteristics. A properly licensed CDL operator accompanies a CLP holder in the front seat as required for lawful operation and safety. This paid service does not provide comprehensive beginner driving instruction.
Published road session and fee
The road service is one approximately 30-minute session only, at a total fee of $250. It is separately selected from pre-trip and backing services. Read the required advance disclosures and refund policy, and confirm the vehicle and your current license or permit before scheduling.
Road familiarization is separate from the DPS test and ELDT
A familiarization session is not the Texas DPS CDL skills examination and does not issue a license. It also does not automatically complete applicable ELDT public-road requirements. Discuss those separate steps with us and review the official resources for your situation.
Questions before you arrange service
Does a road familiarization session guarantee I will pass?
No. A rental or session does not guarantee testing success, license issuance, restriction removal or ELDT completion.

A self-directed alternative to a traditional CDL school
Get Your CDL Quick offers vehicle rental and limited vehicle familiarization for customers who arrive with previously acquired knowledge and skills from experience or independent self-study. This service model is intended as an alternative to a traditional CDL school program. The paid rental and familiarization services do not provide a comprehensive beginner curriculum or classroom instruction. Customers prepare and progress according to their existing ability.
Required FMCSA ELDT behind-the-wheel training is a separate, proficiency-based activity. Our Texas Workforce Commission exemption request is pending; TWC has not granted an exemption. Describing the business as an alternative to a school does not establish its regulatory status.
