Class A & Class B CDL Truck Rentals

Trusted CDL Truck Rentals Since 1999

Get Your CDL Quick has been providing Class A and Class B CDL truck rentals for over 25 years. Since 1999, thousands of drivers have relied on our dependable, well-maintained trucks to take their Texas DPS CDL Skills Test. What began as a simple, fast 30-minute test at the Texas Department of Public Safety has evolved into a much more complex process — and we’ve evolved with it to support our clients every step of the way.

How the CDL Test Has Changed Over the Years

From a Simple Test to a Multi-Step Evaluation

From 1999 through the early 2000s, the CDL test at the Texas DPS was straightforward. Most applicants completed:

  • A basic air brake test

  • Straight-line backing

  • Offset backing

The entire exam typically lasted 30 minutes.

Then DPS introduced a more involved Texas-specific pre-trip inspection, which was not the federal pre-trip but their own extended version. The exam expanded to include:

  • 30 minutes for pre-trip

  • 30 minutes for backing

  • 1 hour for the road test

The total test time grew from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

The ELDT Era: Major Federal and State Changes

In 2022, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) implemented the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations, requiring:

  • ELDT Theory

  • ELDT Behind-the-Wheel (Range)

  • ELDT Behind-the-Wheel (Road)

Once ELDT is completed and uploaded to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry, students may take their DPS CDL Skills Test.

Around the same time, Texas DPS updated their test, changing the Basic Control Skills maneuvers from:

❌ Straight line
❌ Offset
❌ Parallel

to the current four-maneuver sequence:

  • Pull-forward stop

  • Straight-line backing

  • Left offset-tracking

  • Right offset-tracking

The road test has remained mostly unchanged, but the new pre-trip and backing requirements have made the test more challenging.

How Our Truck Rentals Support Today’s CDL Testing Standards

While we remain primarily a CDL truck rental company, we also understand that the modern DPS test is significantly more demanding than it was years ago. That is why we provide optional support services to help you prepare.

We offer:

  • Class A & Class B truck rentals for the Texas DPS test

  • ELDT Theory support through ELDTChimp.com

  • ELDT Behind-the-Wheel range/road assistance (optional)

  • Texas DPS CLP test practice online, word for word

  • Detailed pre-trip inspection study materials

  • Instructor-led pre-trip demonstrations

  • CDL training videos inside our mobile classroom trailer

Although we are not a CDL school and do not advertise as a school, we provide the guidance, materials, and truck rental service needed to prepare for the DPS test.

Pre-Trip Inspection Preparation (Texas DPS New Modernized Version)

The Texas DPS pre-trip inspection is the new modernized federal version — it is a Modernized Verssion-specific memorization-based exam. The examiner must hear the exact verbiage presented in the order they were trained to score it.

We provide:

  • A detailed pre-trip memorization guide

  • Step-by-step explanation of every component

  • Video demonstrations

  • Instructor walk-throughs

  • Feedback on your verbal delivery

However, the student must memorize the wording exactly. Our instructors will teach you what DPS examiners expect, but passing the pre-trip depends on your ability to present the words correctly.

Basic Control Skills Backing Assistance

We teach the DPS-required Basic Control Skills:

  • Pull-forward stop

  • Straight-line backing

  • Left offset-tracking

  • Right offset-tracking

We provide reference points, correction methods, and step-by-step guidance to ensure you understand exactly how DPS evaluates each maneuver.

Road Test Preparation

We explain the DPS scoring method and the mistakes applicants commonly make. Many experienced drivers fail the road test because they do not perform it the way DPS expects. We help you understand:

  • How examiners want turns executed

  • How lane changes are scored

  • Speed management

  • Mirror checks

  • Intersection handling

  • Automatic failure triggers

We focus on teaching you what the DPS examiner needs to see, not just how to drive a truck.

Why Our CDL Truck Rental Service Works

Our experience since 1999 gives us unmatched insight into both the old and new CDL testing systems. We know:

  • What changed

  • Why it changed

  • How examiners think

  • How to prepare students for the new exam format

  • The exact type of truck needed for a smooth test experience

Most importantly:

We make sure you are comfortable — with the truck, the maneuvers, and the process.

We Are a Truck Rental Company First — With Helpful Training Support

We want to be clear:

We are not a CDL school.

We do not market ourselves as a school.

Our core business is Class A, Class B, Passenger and School Bus CDL truck rentals for DPS testing.

However, because of the complexity of the modern CDL test and ELDT requirements, we also offer optional:

  • ELDT theory support

  • ELDT BTW training

  • Pre-trip study tools

  • Backing instruction

  • Road test preparation

Our goal is simple:

Give you the best truck, the best guidance, and the best chance of passing your Texas DPS CDL exam.
